Direct x problem

Alright.... i had carbon on my comp a while ago but unistalled it after getting bored of it.

But after watching some Initial D i want to play it again.

Now i have looked everywhere on how to fix this problem with the Direct X 0 or higher. The way i have read to fix it is to change the compatability mode to "windows 2000" in the autorun.exe. I have done this but when i double click the .exe now the little hour glass apears next to the cursor for a few seconds and disapeers? any suggestions?

Sorry if you have been asked this 1000 times but i have searched everywhere!
