I have had the usual "DirectX 0" message and tried the recommended installation change to Windows 2000 Compatibility Mode for Autorun.exe, and now it doesn't even run install at all !?!

I am running a Dell Inspiron laptop, and would appreciate some help. Thanks!

...by the way, I am running Windows XP Home Edition. Has anyone experienced this problem in XP Professional edition?
